Got it!

Just a moment please,
getting sound files . . .

What is this? What is that?

Just as with simple statements, questions using the demonstrative pronouns นี่, นั่น and โน่น and the word อะไร (à-rai, what?) can also omit the verb.

นี่ อะไร
(nêe à-rai)
What is this?
นี่ รูป
(nêe rûpe)
this a photograph
นั่น อะไร
(nûn à-rai)
What is that?
นั่น บ้าน
(nûn bâan)
that is a house
โน่น อะไร
(nôan à-rai)
What is that over there? (far)
โน่น โรงเรียน
(nôan rong-rian)
that is a school

For clarity we have used the same demonstrative pronoun in the answer, as was used in the question. However the one you use in answering depends on your location in relation to the object.
