Correct Tone is Everything

The application on this page will test your ability to guess the correct tone of a word when you hear it. Play the sound file and think about the word. Does it go up and down, down and up, or is it even? Select the icon with a graphic that matches the word.

Tone is everything in spoken Thai, so you'll want to practice listening to the examples in this chapter often.

You probably won't get them all right every time, but soon you will get most of them. You will have plenty of practice when you start learning the names of consonants and vowels.
